     “YASHASVI JAISWAL” Mumbaikar lefty batter made an impactful hundred in Domnica [West Indies] on day two of Test match against West Indies,with this Jaiswal became the 3rd Indian opener and 17th Indian player to score a century on his debut.

     Jaiswal who were on 40 at the end of day one, resume positively on day two.He was very watchful at the crease.He change his gear and accelerate his inning after lunch and made a spectacular hundred.

     The 21 year old lefty opener batter Yashasvi Jaiswal become the 17th Indian Test debutant who scored a hundred.Before him Shreyas Iyer did the same thing against New Zealand in 2021 in Kanpur.

     Yashasvi Jaiswal became the first ever Indian to score150 runs in his debut Test inning away from home [outside India]. He resume his inning with 143 runs from 350 balls on day 3, Jaiswal just need 7 runs to make History or to break the barrier of 150 runs.He took his time and break the barrier and create  History with passing 150 runs.Now he become the first Indian batter to do so on his debut in an overseas venue.                     

     At the end of second day, India took the healthy lead of 162 runs in first inning.On day one West Indies was bold out for just 150 runs in Domnica and Jaiswal also became the highest run getter for India on Test debut outside Asia,He  passed Sourav Ganguly who score 131 runs against England in Lords.

    Jaiswal became the 4th Mumbaikar to make a Test century on debut for India 🇮🇳 .Earlier Shreyas Iyer ( vs New Zealand in 2021),Prithvi Shaw (vs West Indies in 2018) and skipper Rohit Sharma (vs West Indies in 2013) were the debutant who scored ton‎.

    Jaiswal has already impressed in u-19 World Cup and in IPL 2023 session he became the fourth youngest batter to score a maiden century and 5th highest run getter with 625 runs at a strike rate of 63.6.

      In the absence of injured K L Rahul ,Jaiswal was picked for the West Indies tour as an opener.He grab the opportunity with both hands and became the 17th Indian batter to smash a ton on his Test debut.

       One thing is also notable that in this match he opened with skipper Rohit Sharma who also made a Test hundred on his debut against the same opponent [West Indies] in Nov 2013 during Sachin Tendulkar”s farewell series.Rohit Sharma made his test debut at Eden Garden Kolkata and finish his inning with 177 runs.It was the second highest score on debut by an Indian .Shikhar Dhawan holds the record with 187 runs on his debut against Australia in Mohali [India] in March 2013.It was the special inning played by Shikhar Dhawan .He create the history on that day,he became the fastest centurian by any batsman on test debut. He complete his century in just 85 deliveries 104* runs.He finish his inning on 187 runs from 174 balls.

      Jaiswal is the first player in last 13 years who score a Test hundred on his debut away from home. Earlier in 2010 Suresh Raina score 120 runs against Sri Lanka on his debut out side India.

       Jaiswal is the 7th Indian Test debutant who scored a hundred outside India and he is the 306 Test cricketer for team India.

       “It feels really good. It was an emotional moment [getting 100] .My batting is still going on so the effort will be to play as long as possible for team India”.Jaiswal told the reporters at the end of day 2.

       “This is the start of my career so i’ll strive to take that as long as possible too and see how focused and disciplined I can be.

       “It was very emotional for me, for my family and for all those who have supported me throughout because it has been a long journey for me.I want to thank everyone who has helped in any way I want to dedicate this to my  parents because they’ve had a big influence on my life and I want to thank God.Don”t want to say too much………… I am happy, but this is the start . I need to keep it up “.

       Jaiswal doesn’t have a long first class career [domestic cricket]. He has played just 15 first class matches before this test. He has scored 1845 runs with an average of 80+ . In these 15 matches  he scored 9 hundreds with a stunning 265 knock in the 2nd inning of Duleep Trophy  [BCCI Domestic] final last year’.

       Jaiswal completed his hundred in the 70th over of the inning and the team total crossed 200 runs with no wicket .After that Rohit  also completed his 10th hundred ,with this Rohit pass 3500 Test runs . But just after skipper fall next ball to West Indian debutant Alick Athanaze gloving a catch down the leg side to Joshua Da Silva. 229 run partnership between Jaiswal and Rohit is the 2nd highest partnership in test in West Indies for any wicket by an Indian . Earlier a partnership between Vijay Manjrekar and Pankaj Roy at Sabina Park   in 1953 with 237 runs  for 2nd wicket hold the record  for highest runs partnership by any wicket against  WI.

       “I spoke a lot to Rohit while batting .He kept explaining to me how to bat on this wicket and where the runs would come. We had very good communication between us ,”Jaiswal said. “Before the game also ,he was talking to me ,telling me ‘you have to do it’. So I kept thinking about that and how I should prepare mentally and score runs. So I think I’ve learnt a lot from this game and I’ll try to keep doing that going forward too”.

       “It makes a lot of  difference when experienced players and legends of our team [like – Rohit, Virat ,Rahane] sit with you talk to you…. It makes a big difference because I keep learning from them ,”Jaiswal concluded.
