India vs West Indies:  Here we are for the fifth and final game in India’s tour of the West Indies. However, the red-ball leg and the 50-over format were rather one sided. But in the shortened game, West Indies had an excellent performance. The fifth T20I is well positioned for both teams with a 2-2 series score.

Even though India has momentum after winning their last two games. The first two games have been won by the hosts. On their best day, the formidable West Indian lineup can surpass any team, and they did.

India vs West Indies:  With a 165-run stand on Saturday the 4th T20I, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill equaled the highest opening partnership for India in T20Is. This was a success for India’s opening partnership in the T20I series. Throughout the innings, the pair played several beautiful shots that went nicely with one another. Even though Gill lost just as he was about to win, Tilak Varma and Jaiswal, two young men, finished the job.

India vs West Indies: Although Rovman Powell, the Men in Purple’s skipper, recognized after the game that Shimron Hetmeyar’s knock was a significant positive, the team still fell 10-15 runs short. The West Indies hitters found it difficult to handle Kuldeep Yadav’s spin on the pitch, which was ideal for batting. Instead of merely hitting him more, they might be attempting to use a different tactic.

India vs West Indies:  Shubman Gill on BCCI TV:
“In the first three matches, I couldn’t score ten runs. But this looked like a good wicket so my intention was to capitalize on it. Once I got a good start, the plan was to finish the game there itself by playing well for the next 4-5 powerplay overs, and that’s exactly what happened.”

“You have to identify if you are making mistakes and not getting the basics right. I felt that I didn’t make a mistake in those three matches and wasn’t able to convert starts.

“The T20 format is like that. When you have 3-4 matches where a good shot is caught by the fielder, and you have to keep an eye on making quick runs, you don’t have time to think much. You just look at what your template was when you were consistently scoring runs,” said Gill.

India vs West Indies:  Singh on BCCI TV:

“I read the conditions quickly and realised that it is pretty flat. I bowled slower ones on my hard length,” Arshdeep Singh told on BCCI TV
Arshdeep’s father Darshan Singh and elder brother Akashdeep Singh was in stands in the fourth T20I against West Indies.

     “It was pre-planned,” said Arshdeep.

“Father is in Canada to play some tournament. So he tagged along with my brother and came to USA to watch me play.

“There was a bit of extra support. There was pressure also to perform well in front of them,” he added.

India vs West Indies: Hardik Pandya after the 4th T20I:
There are more Indians here. The way they have been supporting, they’ve been coming in numbers, they make sure that we give them some entertainment. There is no doubt in their (Gill and Jaiswal) skill set. Going forward, we’ll have to take responsibility as a batting group and help out our bowlers.

Bowlers win matches. If they can get you a couple of wickets, you can control the game. Shubman and Yashasvi were brilliant. The way they ran in this heat … and … making sure they finished the job, it was very pleasing to see. I like to captain how I see the game. I like to go with my instincts. We lost two games but in the first game, it was our own error, we were cruising quite well, we messed it up in the last four overs and didn’t cross the line.

We didn’t do much different in the next 2  games. All these games give us a lot of confidence. We had to pull up our socks and play good cricket, that’s exactly what the boys did. In T20 cricket, no one’s favorite. You have to turn up and play good cricket. You got to respect the opposition. They were 2-0 up because they played better cricket than us. Tomorrow we turn up and do exactly what we did today and hope for the best.

India vs West Indies:  Powell after the 4th T20I:
It’s a pretty good batting surface. We were maybe 10-15 runs short. Having said that, Hetmyer and Hope played well. There’s quality bowling in our unit. We didn’t stick to our plans, you’ll always find ourselves under pressure against quality batters.

From the start of the series, we always knew it’s gonna come down to how we bat against spin. We didn’t bat well in the middle overs. If we can improve against spin, then we’ll do well. It’s 2-2, both teams have played well to reach where they are. Tomorrow is the final and in the final, I’d back West Indies. I am feeling okay and ready to lead the guys again tomorrow.

India vs West Indies:  Jaiswal after the 4th T20I:
It’s not easy, I am happy to go out there and express myself. I would like to thank the support staff and Hardik Bhai, they’ve shown faith. That shows so much impact on my mind. I try to play how the team needs and how I can express myself towards the plan. I try to score quickly, how many shots I can play in the powerplay, and put my team in a nice shape. Reading the wicket, reading the situation, how I can take the game deep everything is important.

My intent is always to score runs. I have played a lot of balls against them (Holder and McCoy in the IPL), which helped me to read them. It (partnership with Gill) was really amazing the way we were talking and the way we were taking singles and understanding each other. He batted really well. The way he was rotating the strike, it was really important to build the partnership. I want to thank everyone for coming here and supporting us in this heat. Thank you so much.

India vs West Indies: Sunil Joshi on Kuldeep Yadav:
“If you look at Kuldeep 2.0, his front arm is nice toward the target, his bowling arm is towards the target, he is running towards the target. Shorter stride, there is a free follow through, he has got quicker through the air. You look at the way he is bowling now,” Joshi had said to The Indian Express.

“Kuldeep at his best in last five-six years:”
Abhinav Mukund believes Kuldeep Yadav ‘is doing the best he has in the past 5-6 years.’ Speaking on JioCinema in the building to the game, the former India batter says, ‘Earlier, he’d lose his grip and couldn’t hold the ball well when he was being attacked (during IPL 2019). But now, even if he gets hit for a six, he can bowl that googly well. He has got that confidence now.’

India vs West Indies:  Hardik Pandya won the toss, and India elected to bat first in Lauderhill, Florida

     India vs West Indies:

There we are with 2 Captains on the mic:  Hardik Pandya: We will bat first. Always feel, we should challenge ourselves. It was a good track. It played better than last year. You need to be courageous on these types of wickets. Arsh has a big heart. Even if you can make a good comeback even in the last two balls, it makes a difference.

Rovman Powell: Happy to bowl first. We have been struggling a little. But back-to-back wins put a smile on the faces of our people. I think it is a good surface. You just need to have plans for different batters. We just sat down and tried to come up with our best combination. Joseph, our premier bowler is back for McCoy.

India vs West Indies: Yashasvi and Gill came as an opening pair for India and Akeal took the bowling attack for West Indies.

Akeal Hosein gave the 1st blow to India at the 5th ball of the very 1st over. Yesterday’s hero and Man of The Match winner Yashasvi Jaiswal went for a big shot and could not manage it, and found the bowler, Akeal took the catch to finish the inning of Yashasvi, and silence in the ground, Yashasvi walk back. India 6/1 after 1st over.

India vs West Indies; Gill went-

Akeal Hosein strike again in his 2nd over and the 3rd over of the inning.

Shubman Gill swang his bat and hit the ball to the boundary through the mid-wicket area, getting four runs. He then tried to hit the ball again, this time by sweeping it, but he didn’t judge the direction correctly and was declared out. Gill didn’t ask for a review and quickly walked off the field. This was the second wicket India had lost. Akeal Hosein, the bowler, had taken both wickets in his first set of deliveries. India’s score was now 17 runs for the loss of 2 wickets after three overs.

First maximum for India came in the last ball of the 5th over by Suryakumar Yadav on Akeal Hosein. India were 32/2 after 5 overs. Both the openers [ yesterday’s hero ] back in the pavilion.

Alzarri Joseph came into attack in the 6th and last over of powerplay. Tilak Varma took him and got 19 runs in this over. It was the most expensive over of the series so far. Fifty came up for India. 51/2 after 6.

India vs West Indies: Roston Chase got Varma.

A partnership of 49 runs between Varma and Suryakumar ended with a wicket of varma. Chase, Powell, and Pooran were excited about Chase’s amazing one-handed catch while he was bowling. The referees came up to check. It also seems like the Windies team was happy to had found a great player who was left-handed and very effective. Even though their appeal wasn’t very strong, the Windies team still managed to take a wicket. Varma scored 27 in 18 deliveries with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

India vs West Indies: India 67/3 in 8 overs.

India vs West Indies: India 86/3 in 10 overs. After loosing 3 wickets specially the wicket of Varma, Windies are dominating and put the pressure on Indian batters.

India vs West Indies: Romario Shepherd got Sanju Samson behind the wicket. Samson scored 13 in 9 deliveries with 2 fours. Sanju Samson C Pooran b Shepherd on 13 in 9 deliveries. India, 89/4 after 11 overs. Windies strongly dominating and in very good control.

India vs West Indies: Chase came to ball 12th over and conceded just 5 runs, A fantastic third over from Roston Chase. Just the five runs come from the 12th over 94/4 after 12 overs.

West Indies spinners did their job and gripped the game, did not conceded much runs and they turned the game around for West Indies.

India vs West Indies:The spinners have turned the game around for the West Indies. Akeal Hosein wraps up his spell with a three-run over. And then, Chase gives away only five off his last. The duo have only given 49 runs off their eight overs and nabbed three wickets.

India vs West Indies:100 came up for India in the 14th over and 102/4 after 14.

India vs West Indies: 10 runs came in the 15th over and India were 112/4 after 15.

India vs West Indies:  Suryakumar completed his 2nd fifty of the series in the 16 over of the inning, bowled by Alzarri Joseph who dropped a catch of Hardik Pandya in the same over of his bowling. rain interrupted the play for a while but resumed shortly and India was India, 123/4 after 16 overs.

India vs West Indies: A big fish into the net.

Holder took the wicket of Suryakumar, lbw on 61 in 45 deliveries .India, six down for 141/6 after 18 overs.

India vs West Indies: Romario Shepherd strike twice in 19th over.

Mukesh Kumar the new batter edged one behind the wicket for four. 16 come off the last over and India close the innings at 165/9.

India vs West Indies:    Here came the players with Brendon King and Kyle Mayers to start for the hosts. Hardik, meanwhile, will be opening the attack.

    WI 11/0 after 1 over.

India vs West Indies: Arshdeep strike in his first over.

Arshdeep Singh strikes!! gets rid of Mayers again. Just like he did yesterday. Did not looked in control of the shot, it goes straight up, and Jaiswal with a dolly. WI 12/1 after 1.2 overs.

India vs West Indies: Pooran took Hardik.

In the 3rd over of the inning which was bowled by Hardik, Pooran attacked the last 2 deliveries and hit Consecutive sixes to end the over. WI 31/1 after 3 overs.

West Indies, 44/1 after four overs and the rain has returned with a darker cover of the clouds above.

Fifty up for WI 14 runs come from the over bowled by Chahal. 61/1 after six overs.

10 runs from that seventh over bowled by Kuldeep, WI are 71/1.

Hardik came with his 3rd over Another 10 run over for the Windies. 81/1 after eight overs.

Kuldeep Yadav is sticking with his bowling, and there’s a good reason for it. He’s now in his third over and doing well. Out of all the Indian bowlers, he’s the only one who has managed to keep the opponent’s score under 10 runs per over. He just gave away five runs in this over, which is impressive. However, the West Indies team is currently in a strong position, scoring 86 runs for the loss of one wicket after nine overs. They need 80 more runs to win in the remaining 11 overs.

At the halfway stage, Windies are 96/1.

Chahal bring 11th over and conceded 11 runs in that. 100 came up for WI and WI was 107/1.

Kuldeep finishes another good turn of bowling. Even though he didn’t take any wickets today, Kuldeep Yadav has performed better than the other Indian bowlers. His last over is clear proof of this. He only gave away two runs in that over. Despite Pooran-King attacking most of the bowlers from the opposing team, including Kuldeep’s longtime spin partner Yuzi Chahal, they were cautious against Kuldeep, except for a few deliveries that they could have punished. Kuldeep’s figures for the match are 4 overs, 18 runs, and 0 wickets. The West Indies team is at 109/1 after 12 overs.

India vs West Indies: Kuldeep was Fabulous.

India vs West Indies:  Fifty for King, play paused again. Brandon King hit a big shot off Yuzi Chahal, sending the ball flying over the field for a third time. King reached his half-century, but then rain stopped the game. When they started playing again, Chahal finished his over with 10 runs, and the West Indies had scored 119/1 after 13 overs.

Tilak Varma claim his maiden wicket

Varma claim the dangerous Pooran: Pooran tries a tricky shot next but was caught by Hardik Pandya near the front of the field. India ask for another look after the first umpire denies the request. But Pooran was already walked off. Varma got a wicket for India. Only five runs came from the over. West Indies has lost two wickets and scored 124. Nicholas Pooran and King stitched a partnership of 107 runs for 2nd wicket, did really well for the West Indies, making 107 together for the second wicket. Pooran, who made 47 in 35 balls, is taken out by Varma, who gets his first international wicket with that move.

Axar Patel is brought in to bowl, for the first time in the game Eight runs come off the over. 132/2 after 15 overs.

16 runs come in Chahal’s over and WI were 148/2. after 16.

     Now just a formality left.

Tilak Varma bowled his second over and gave 12 in it. The West Indies team had 160/2 after 17 overs. Just 6 needed for a historic win which is a booster foe WI. Now, Yashasvi came to bowl for the first time in this series, and it might also be the last one. Brandon King hits the ball really far down the field, scoring six. This victory is significant for the West Indies as they have won their first T20I series against India since 2016. They played really well and deserved to win on this day.

India vs West Indies:      Player of the match
Romario Shepherd: Makes me feel happy. We ended up on the winning side. Thanks to Pooran and the team. From the ODIs to now, I have been bowling well. The best so far I feel. Especially, the plan was to take wickets. Means a lot to us. We have been through hard times in the last few months.

    Player of The Series:
Okay so here’s the thing, something that actually speaks a lot of the amount of cricket that’s being played in the modern times. Nicholas Pooran is the player of the series but can’t receive the award and have a chat as he has left the venue for a flight he has to catch.

The player of the series was Nicholas Pooran. He had to leave to catch a flight so Powell accepts the award on his behalf. Pooran will also get a branded electric guitar courtesy of Hard Rock Cafe for hitting the most sixes in this series.

India vs West Indies:  Opener Zak Crawley delivered a superb how many runs explosive batting performance a star for England scored a magnificent 189 runs off 182 deliveries with the help of 21 fours and 3 six putting England in a commanding position against Australia as hosts [ ENGLND ] were 384-4 at the stumps of day 2 with a vital lead of 67 runs of the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday, July 20, 2023. This is Crawley’s 4th test century.

With an eye on rain forecast in Manchester on the 4th and 5th days of the match, Crawley led England’s batting charge from the front, and hit a sensational maiden Ashes century in just 93 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six, as Australia was left rattled by the opener’s blazing knock.

India vs West Indies:  Indian captain mulls on the series loss
Hardik Pandya: We lost the momentum when I came in and couldn’t capitalize on the momentum. I believe we gonna challenge ourselves. We try to get better. In hindsight, it is fine. We don’t need to explain much. I know how the boys are within the group. We have enough time to figure it out.

Losing is good at times. On the positive side, we have done a lot of learning. The boys showed character. Credit to them. They kept coming and tried something new. It is part of the process. It is what I feel at that moment. If I see a situation, I generally prefer something. Not rocket science, just my gut feeling. Every youngster who is coming in is showing character. I can’t be more happy when I see a youngster comes in and puts his hand up. A big thank you to everyone. The T20 World Cup would be here.

WI skipper on a historic win:
Rovman Powell: It is difficult to put words. Even adjectives are difficult to put here. There was a lot at stake. We sat down and had a meeting last evening. The people in the Caribbean were longing for something nice. Credit to the coaching side. We could have easily panicked after the loss. Our plans were good.

I am very big on individual performances. If one can perform, the team will benefit. Credit to the bowling unit they controlled this powerful batting lineup from India. a lot of credit has to go to the fans. When the chips were down, they supported us.

King finishes off with a 6, Earlier, powered by a second half-century in the series from Suryakumar Yadav, India posted 165/8 off their 20 overs quota Brandon King’s explosive 55-ball 85 crushes India by 8 wkts, WI win series 3-2 West Indies (171/2) beat India (165/9) by 8 wickets in Florida, win 5-match series 3-2.

India vs West Indies:   Summary of India vs West Indies 2023 5th T20I: In a big cricket match between India and West Indies, Brandon King played really well. He scored 85 runs from 55 balls and helped West Indies win the match and the series 3-2. West Indies had a bit of a tough start while chasing a score of 166, but Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King played really well together, making 107 runs for their team. Pooran got out after scoring 47 runs, and this wicket was Tilak Varma’s first in international cricket.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav was the top performer for India, scoring 61 runs from 45 balls. He got out after being judged LBW. India made a total of 165/9 in 20 overs. Another notable performance was from Tilak Varma, who scored 27 runs and had a partnership of 49 runs with Suryakumar Yadav.

India vs West Indies:  Powell: “[On winning the series] It’s difficult to put words to. Adjectives are inadequate for our feelings. It’s a big series. It’s a very big series for us to beat India at home with everything going on. Last night after we got defeated badly we sat down and talked. We are not just playing to put smiles on our faces but for the people. A lot of credit to the coaching staff and also the chairman.

Yesterday we could have easily panicked but they sat me down and we talked about where we could go. I am big on individual performances and when individuals do well it helps the teams. Pooran is a big performer. We asked him to stand up for three out of fives games. Credit has to be given to the bowling unit as well for trying to control such a powerful Indian team.

A lot of credit to the fans. When chips are down they rallied around us and supported us. Not just physically but on social media as well. Shows how cricket is a driving force and if we can keep using it as an added motivation to put smiles on Caribbean faces.”

India vs West Indies: Hardik Pandya: “If you see, we lost that period post ten overs. Since when I came, I wasn’t able to capitalize and I took my time and could not finish. [On his decision at the toss] I believe that as a group we have to challenge ourselves. All these games are the games where we have to learn. We have spoken as a group that whenever we can take the hard way we will.

In hindsight, one series here or there doesn’t matter but the commitment to the goal is important. [On the T20 World Cup next year] It’s a long way. We have the ODI WC coming up. And sometimes losing is good. You get to learn a lot. And a special mention for all the boys. They showed great character. Winning and losing is a part of the process and we are going to make sure we learn from that. [On his bowling changes]

It is what I feel at the moment, I don’t plan much. If I see a situation, whatever my gut says I follow. [On captaining young players] They’ve got heart. That is something that’s very important in international cricket. Every youngster coming through has belief. That’s something I see very often now. Kudos to them, they came out and took responsibility. I can’t be happier as a captain.” He thanks the crowd and says he is sure there will be bigger numbers at the World Cup before signing off in Gujarati.

India vs West Indies: Hope roars in excitement. Powell and Sammy share a warm hug. With all the challenges West Indies cricket has been facing, winning this series is a huge achievement for them. It’s their first time winning a T20I series against India since 2017! Even when India fought back to tie the series 2-2, Powell believed in his team’s abilities for the final match, and they proved him right. Despite rain, lightning, and the threat of strong performances from the opposing team, West Indies fought hard and came out as the winners.

Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd were the standout players when West Indies were bowling, as they limited India to a score of 165. Then, it was all about Brandon King, who achieved his highest T20I score, and Nicholas Pooran, who confidently chased down the target after Kyle Mayers was dismissed early by Arshdeep Singh.

These two batsmen handled the challenges posed by Kuldeep Yadav and targeted Yuzvendra Chahal to score runs consistently. When Nicholas Pooran was caught out off Tilak Varma’s second delivery in his international career, the game was almost decided. King ensured there were no late surprises.

Shai Hope’s steady performance helped secure the final runs needed for victory. This win is well-deserved, especially for Shai Hope, who missed out on a fifty in the previous game. All in all, this series was unforgettable, and West Indies’ victory will be remembered as a great achievement.

India vs West Indies: However, for India, there are still a lot of things they need to figure out, with the most important one being how to make their team strong and balanced. Having a weaker batting lineup at the end has caused some concerns, and that’s why they couldn’t score as many runs as they should have. Chahal’s performance during this series was just average, and the way Hardik used Axar also makes people wonder. We might get more information about these problems.

India vs West Indies T20Is: Fans Express Disappointment with Team India Many Indian fans are feeling unhappy following the defeats against West Indies in the T20I matches, and their feelings are justified. The lead-up to the World Cup doesn’t seem very positive for India, even though these matches were part of a T20 series. Both the One Day International (ODI) team and the T20 team appear to be struggling. Some fans are suggesting that Virat Kohli should come back to the T20I team.

India vs West Indies:  Powell: “It is difficult to put words. Even adjectives are difficult to put here. There was a lot at stake. We sat down and had a meeting last evening. The people in the Caribbean were longing for something nice. Credit to the coaching side. We could have easily panicked after the loss. Our plans were good. I am very big on individual performances. If one can perform, the team will benefit.”

Hardik Pandya on losing the series:
“We lost the momentum when I came in and couldn’t capitalize on the situation. I believe we gonna challenge ourselves. We try to get better. In hindsight, it is fine. We don’t need to explain much. I know how the boys are within the group. We have enough time to figure it out. Losing is good at times. On the positive side, we have done a lot of learnings. The boys showed character. Credit to them.” – Hardik Pandya
