     Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad were the heroes of day one in Ashes 4th  Test in Manchester Old Trafford. Wednesday 19 July day one of the Ashes test, Woakes and Broad put pressure on the Aussies. Woakes took 4 wickets just one wicket short of his maiden 5 wicket haul in Ashes and Broad touch the landmark of 600 Test wickets

completed 150 wicket against Australia.

     Ashes 4th Test Day 1: At Manchester Old Trafford, everything was in England’s favor, from toss to finish. The Strokes won the toss and elected to field first under heavy and overcast Manchester skies. Michael Atherton points out a very interesting trivia: “No team that has won the toss and opted for the ball has won a game at Old Trafford.” But trust Stokes to lead the way.     After tea, Travis Head was caught in the deep to become the landmark wicket and Broad’s 18th of the series – no other England player has more than 10, while the leading Australian is Pat Cummins with 15 wickets. Chris Woakes took four as Australia ended the day on 299/8.

        Chris Woakes has swung the match back in favor of England with the wickets of Cameron Green at 16 in 29 balls and half-centurion Mitchell Marsh at 51  in 60 balls in the same over. Woakes did not stop there and went on to dismiss Alex Carey.
